Meet Tonya and Carrie: Beyond the Diagnoses
Tonya and Carrie are anything but your typical podcast hosts. They're two women in their 30s, each with a laundry list of diagnoses that read like a medical textbook. Tonya, a master's-prepared nurse, grapples with ADHD, POTS, spinal stenosis, PCOS, a slew of mental health conditions, and the lingering suspicion that something else is being missed. Despite her medical background, she's currently unemployed in a bustling city, fighting tooth and nail to reclaim control of her health.
Carrie's story is no less complex. Living in a rural setting so remote she can't even receive mail, she contends with FND, CPTSD, Tourette's, dissociative disorder, and a high RAADS-R score that leaves her battling fainting spells and seizures. Denied disability benefits, she's a mother finding strength in the chaos for herself, her son, and her animal companions.
